December 31st: New Years Eve

Thankfully I hit the gym today to pre-burn cheese, crackers, dessert and yummy Sangria we'll be eating later in the day!

A special treat, my Aunt Beth is actually staying New Year's Eve and leaving for home on the 1st. It's the first time in many years we've gotten to share this holiday with her! (In fact I think the last time was when I was pregnant with Joe, ringing in 2000!) Thus, Dan and I decided to do something special.

Last year, we brought in the New Year with darling friends D, Brian and their three girls. We had a marvelous time and it gave us the idea to reciprocate, doing something very similar; opening our home to dear family and friends so we could ring in the New Year together!

We started the evening chatting and catching up but soon moved into game of Cranium... however eventually the men did end up beating the girls with a respectable, but not outrageous, lead.

We were blessed to have family: Aunt Beth, my brother Joe, sister-in-law, Kenzie and Samantha join us. We also shared the evening with dear friends Brad & Nancy, Susan and Tyler and their respective two children each.

We prepared plenty of food! Susan brought an amazing artichoke dip and scrumptious candied almonds. Nancy, in her ADORABLE sexy red shoes, brought her amazing Sangria mix.

We set up luminaries, after being so inspired by the display at the Desert Botanical Gardens. We also had a fire pit in the backyard to make Smores which the kids and adults both seemed to enjoy.

In order to ring in the New Year in STYLE we got each of the kids a bag filled with poppers, snaps, a hat and horn. They LOVED the noise and toys, although I'm not sure my neighbors did. Of the 6 kids present, all but the littlest girl made it to ring in the New Year.

It was a FANTASTIC TIME, we enjoyed celebrating with those we love dearly and look forward to more parties and time together later this year!
